Compared to past years, life is really quite calm.
Typical Morning of our life this year:
5:25 am- I turn off my alarm, wander into the bathroom, brush teeth, wander down the hall to wake Michael and Jacob, my two stellar early morning seminary students!
5:30 - Jacob typically gets UP with gusto, showers, gets ready, and encourages me very strongly :0 to get something for him to eat! It must be packed with protein and very nutritious. I cannot think of offering hi Orange juice (mom! that's as bad as soda pop!) No sugar cereal ! Usually its a quick egg sandwich or breakfast burrito.
5:40 -Michael wanders down in his sweat pants, faithful and good, ready to go.
5:50- we are usually rushing out the door in the dark, driving up the deserted, vacant neighborhood street and off we go making our 10 min trek to the church for early morning seminary. I treasure this time with my two older boys. We don't usually say much, but for that time in the morning, they are all mine. And, there is something cozy and sweet about a warm car, blankets over our laps early in the morning, heading out to study the scriptures.
6:00 AM- Those two faithful boys get out of the car and head into the church to meet with their faithful amazing seminary teachers. (I know because I taught seminary for two years! I cherish those days! Challenging so demanding, but one of the best experiences of my life)
6-7 AM Is my special time. I have taken doggy Lucas on a walk during this time, while listening to my scriptures. Or I use that time to catch up on email, or news. Thursday mornings are special sister time, when Sharon and I sit together in each other's cars and talk. I love this time with her! It is simple and it is sister bonding time. No interruptions.. just us.
6:47 AM- The kids come bounding out of the church, and off we go! We have been known to stop and grab donuts after seminary or something else, but 99% of the time we are heading to the school, where I drop off Jacob to show choir rehearsal which starts at 7 am. We also give a ride to Dylan Vogelpohl.
7 AM- Home and lately I have been reading scriptures with Michael or even Scott sometimes between 7 and 7:30.
7:20 or so - I am proud to say Scott wakes himself up to his alarm, showers and comes downstairs. We will read scriptures for a few minutes, he reads a book, or hangs out, finishes homework, and has breakfast.
7:55 AM- Family Prayer at the door before everyone heads out! Michael and Jacob leave together for school ( on the days Jacob does not have rehearsal) Michael drives to school :)
8:05 AM - I drive Scott to school. I love this boy and every day I drop him off is another day .. that he grow bigger. I love this cute sweet boy.
And, then WOW, for the first time in 25 years I have the day to do what I need to do. I have no demands except that which I volunteer for. I am trying to use my time well! It is a challenge but I love it. I do love getting up early and think this is a great blessing for our family in moving to Omaha.
