Rootbeer Floats and Spring Showers

This is Kate

This is Mary...  They are my little neighbors next door and I think their Mom knows that I am sharing them with her... I have adopted them as my own.  How could I not?   They are so adorable and Scott loves them. He and Mary have been very good friends ever since they both little wee ones.

Well, it was a perfect Spring afternoon and we had a quick Spring Shower.  Scott had to lay down in it....

We sat on the porch, breathing in the fresh Spring air, and enjoyed rootbeer floats together.

What a happy day...

Scott's Lego Birthday Party...

Scott's only been talking about his upcoming birthday for oh.. probably since his last birthday.   He's been  asking atleast once a week, "Mom, how long is it until my birthday?"

So, finally... finally.... his birthday came!  And, guess what-Mom got sick!  but, this good natured little boy waited  patiently for 10 days to finally have his birthday party.

And, I think it was worth the wait... He sure seemed to think so.

Thanks to pinterest, it was easy to gather up a lot of great ideas for his LEGO Birthday party.

Yep!  He's 6!

Balloons always make things festive..

Lego gift bags, had fun prizes, and see that cake that Scott asked for?   He doesn't love sugar or anything...  A cake made with so much candy was just awesome for him... !

Scott's not at all happy about having friends over !

First, the boys created their own lego man.  They really got into this and it was a great way to start the party and keep them busy while waiting for everyone to show up.

Then we had a timed competition of who could build the highest tower in two minutes.  It was fun to see what they came up with... these two almost tied.

Some of the boys weren't at all concerned, and opted to create something really unique instead.

I guess that is what the birthday boy decided to do...  ha ha!  Either way, they love building stuff out of legos.

Then we played pin the lego man head on the the lego man.

The boys loved making their lego brick pizzas...  they snacked on fruit snacks and creamy chocolate pudding

It was fun just listening to them talk...    I just love this group of boys.  They are truly good friends and love each other.   And, they are so darn cute--every.single.one.of. them.

Wrestle time!   They watched some funny you tube video gungam lego man style.. and they danced and danced, each one asking me, "did you see my cool move?"  'Oh yes,"  I would say!  They are just so cute.

Cuteness!

Happy Birthday to you .. Happy Birthday to you... Happy Birthday dear Scotty.. Happy Birthday to you!

The big moment...  make a wish!

Present Time!

There was a hug after each present was opened.  Like I said, these boys love each other.

I loved  this party.

6

Well, he did it.   He went ahead and turned 6, despite my protests, and my scolding, he just did it anyway.

Scott Isaac Knudsen turned 6!

This is one special little boy...   His presence in our lives is a remarkable blessing if not a miracle.   That is a big story by itself.    But, today we will focus on the fact that he has turned 6!

My emotions this week have been bitter-sweet..    I admit it.  I know that may not be all together healthy, but he is my last and we are now moving  out of the preschooler stage.   That can bring serious sorrow to a mother's heart.   But, alas time moves on and we just need to enjoy every day.. So today we celebrate with love this wonderful son!

He is the apple of our eye...

and has allowed us to enjoy the magic of HIS childhood a little longer...

He is full of life and full of joy...   determined to enjoy every moment of each day...

He adores his mama....  and loves to hang out with me..  and we have been great buddies..

He fit so nicely right there...

Every day and especially holidays are more fun with this enthusiastic, joyful boy.  What a blessing he is in our family!

I will always remember how Scott liked to sleep right.next.to.me.  And, he did for years...

Remember that childhood magic I mentioned?

My buddy in the kitchen.

Is that a cute little boy or what?

Hanging out with his best little friend, Mary and his cousin, Emily.   Being outside, especially in the rain or snow is so exciting and fun!  He loves the outdoors!

Oh why oh why does this boy love sugar so much?

So Happy Birthday Scott... and here's Six things I love about YOU!

Six Things I love about Scott:

1-I love the fact that Scott LOVES people.  It doesn't matter how old or young you are, Scott is your friend.

2-Scott has a PLAN.  He knows what he wants.   If you ask him, he will tell you his plans for the day because he has it all worked out in his head.   But, he is also flexible and easy going!

3-Scott is a sharp cookie.   Give him a complicated lego set and he will patiently work at it and has a great mind for detail.  He is also patient and works through the puzzle with great ease.  He doesn't get frustrated!  Isn't that a great quality for one so young?

4- He is passionate about whatever he is doing and goes for it with gusto!

5- He is determined to be a part of everything.  Despite being the youngest by  almost 6 years, he has always with such good confidence insisted on participating and being a part of things.   Good for you Scotty!

6- Scott has a great sense of humor and a healthy confidence.   He can take it from his brothers and he can also give it.

Is it any wonder why we love this boy with all of our hearts?

Ummmm ...Time for Family Council... (Party Time)

I love this picture because it captures the mood we typically deal with during family council (which we try to hold every Sunday afternoon at 5 pm. )    Ha Ha..  It is just a big fat party.     But, we try....  I usually try to have something fun to eat, like mnm's in a bowl and we plan the upcoming week.

Michael looks super excited...   Jonathan was probably making some big joke and Joseph thought it was funny.

Blog Blog Blog

I should get back into blogging ... I should .. I should ... I should...   I should make it a priority...  like I did.  It is a great way to keep a family history...  It is GREAT!

So I should... yes I should... I should I should I should.

I will be so happy that I did...

So, I SHALL... LET IT BE WRITTEN AND LET IT BE DONE!

So, to begin...

Last night,  I rushed with Jonathan to Brighton High School to watch him SING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM  before the big Senior Night Basketball game.   He did AWESOME!  I even took video.   I think this is the THIRD time he has been asked to sing the National Anthem before a BHS event.

Jonathan is a busy guy....   yesterday he tested out of Lifetime Fitness, after school, after which he ran over to the ACT Prep class and then ran home.. did homework, ate a quick dinner, ran up to BHS to sing, then ran back home to play a basketball game with his way cool, awesome basketball team.  His team is made up of all of his favorite friends in the world, Trevor Aiken, Zach Kush, (Kushlan), Parker Lundgren and a bunch of other cute boys .. whose names I cannot quite recall in this moment, but I love them all... they are sharp boys!

This basketball team is just so funny and so good.   To them this is all a big joke (you should see their team pictures.. so funny)  Their main purpose is to have a lot of fun, and guess what they kill everyone they play, usually beating them by atleast 20 points.     So, anyway, Friday night they play the championship game and we are excited to watch it.

Busy busy Boy Jonathan....

His social life is crazy, he has tons of homework, he is involved in so many extracurricular activities, he works a part time job and he serves on the Stake Youth Committee.. and they elected him to be co-chairperson (or something like that)  all I know is he came home, moaning, "too much responsibility, too much responsibility..."  Oh poor baby.   He will do fine.

I just can't believe we only have a year and a half left with him before he flies away.... on a mission or to a semester of college...  So, we try really hard to love each and every day..    even during those typically self centered, the universe revolves around me moments.   It all goes with the territory and we love this boy.   And, we are grateful  he tries so hard ... and is working so hard to figure this thing called LIFE out.
