Party Party Party...

March 17, 2013

Our social calendar has been full this week.  Steve's been going to meetings, having lunch with people, networking, connecting.

I had lunch with my sisters Christine and Cathy on Wednesday.    What made this get together extra special was a chance meeting up with Aunt Carol Edwards.   We agreed that this chance meeting didn't happen by chance and invited her to go to lunch with us.  I haven't seen Aunt Carol in a few years!  We loved being with her and talked and talked and got caught up a little during lunch (at Zupas... my new favorite to die for lunch place. )  What a good day.

Thursday night Steve attended a concealed permit class.   Hmmmm....  ok.  A guy in our ward found a great deal for this class and a bunch of people in our ward got together to take this class.

Friday we went to dinner with family for my brother in law Craig's birthday.   We ate at Texas Roadhouse and it was quite fun to be together.  When we got home we watched a great movie, "The Iron Lady."  It was very interesting ....  and sweet.

Saturday morning we met up with Christine and Aaron to go to the Desert Star Playhouse.  Steve's cousins own this place (they opened 25 years ago)  and  they give us season tickets every year.  So, we took Christine and Aaron to a play... funny parody off of Lord of the rings.   Fun!  After, we went to the Sweet tooth Fairy for dessert, and we had a nice chat.   I love them.

Saturday night, we went out with a couple we had just met.   It was kind of like a blind date for me and was a very fun experience.   They took us to the Lamb of God oratorio at Abravenel Hall.  It was just wonderful!  So uplifting!   After, we went to Chili's and had appetizers and talked and talked.  It was a great experience. They had just moved here from California.  What an adventure for two people like Steve and I who have been lost in the land of parenting for the past ten years and haven't gone out with other adults much.  Our time together has been at such a premium that we have jealously guarded date night as our time and our time alone... and we have cherished it.   But, this was fun.

On top of all this .... The Kids were in Spring Heaven!   For days the kids have been playing non stop outside.   The neighbor kids all get together and play play play.   Friday night, some of the neighbor kids were still outside at 10:30...  oh my.   The neighbor kids set up their little wading pool, Jacob and next door neighbors tried to build a type of treehouse in the tree next to the driveway, they 've been riding every bike, hotwheel, wagon available.  It has been so refeshing... so wonderful...  to see them play and see the world begin to come back to life.   The tulips are poking up through the ground, the grass is beginning to green up...  and it has been so nice and warm (all the way up to 70 degrees)

What a marvelous and fun weekend.

Today on Sunday we are celebrating Joseph's 19th birthday.   Last night, he came home from work so happy... sharing cookies with everyone.  I told him how much I appreciate his love and support in the family, that sometimes it is so great to have another adult in the family.  I told him, "when you are ready to go on your mission, you just let us know."   He said, "I  know Mom, I just need to find out for myself.  I first want to go to church now and find out for myself."   !!!   Miracles!   He spoke excitedly about being ready for the rehearsel on Sunday (today)  how he needed a missionary haircut, his suit and white shirt... be all ready.    So, now is the time to pray for this young man ...who is good.. he is a slow bloomer but he is coming along.
