April 2014
I will need to write about our wonderful Spring Break trip to Zions National Park and Bryce Canyon soon!
This past week was a wonderful, stressful, busy week.
Coming back to school after Spring Break was hard for us all. I had to do a pep talk about how there are only 6 weeks or so of school left and encourage everyone to sprint to the end! The boys got back into the swing of things fairly quickly.
Joseph is amazing to watch these days. He is up at 6:30 am and off to work every morning. I am so proud of him and he comes home happy. I have been told that he is doing a great job at work! I am so grateful to our dearest friends Kyle and Tracy Jones. They are angels in our lives, always watching over us. He offered Joe this job and has changed his life. Joseph also had a good week with his friends and I am happy to see that again. He came to me one night and opened up, sharing his thoughts and feelings. It was a sweet moment. He is open to the idea of serving a non traditional mission after going to school one semester this Fall. Now wouldn't that be wonderful? That is my #1 project after we get settled in our new Omaha home.
Jonathan had a phenomenal week. He is enjoying his new job! He goes in at 7 or 8 am. He had a fun week getting ready for Prom. This boy has been blessed to have the greatest freinds. Not only does he have a big group of great friends.. all GREAT kids... but he also has the most loyal close friends. He and Trevor Aiken planned and worked hard preparing the day activities and after dance activities. They were busy making reservations etc. and washed our Honda Odyssey together, vacuumed it out. It was a happy week for Jonny boy. And, Prom turned out so great! They had a phenomenally fun day activity involving games and water balloons. And, then everyone met up with their dates in their Prom attire at this gorgeous home with a small creek in the front yard. Parents came too, including me, and we took a lot of pictures. It is a bitter sweet tiem for me because I know this is his last prom. He went with Claire Anderson, who used to live in our ward, before moving further south about 8 years ago. Jonathan and Claire were in the same kindergarten class and he always said, even as a little boy, that he wanted to go on a date with her! So, several weeks ago, he got this idea that he would ask her to prom. Being the romantic that he is, he found a sweet song about being friends beginning in kindergarten and then growing up together and being friends.. and ofcourse more! So sweet. He took his guitar, went to her house, sat on her porch (Trevor sitting beside him) He invited her out to sit on the other stool, and he sang this song. He added a verse of his own at the end in which he asked her to prom. She ofcourse said an enthusiastic "yes!" on the spot! So fun for the two of them and great way to go to his last prom with this sweet friend.
Other big news about Jonathan is he had his Eagle Scout Board of Review yesterday and he is an official Eagle Scout! Happy Momma Moment and a happy moment for him too! He stood a little taller knowing that he had finally completed this life long goal! Hooray!
(I didn't realize how tired I look! It may also be because we are at the heigh at allergy season.. oh my)
This month is going to be soooo busy! I hope I can do it all! It is a big month for Jonathan as he finished up all that he needs to do for graduation and participates in all of the festivities preceding graduation.
Michael is just awesomeness! We had parent teacher conference and every single teacher basically said, "he is doing well in the class, he is a great student and an awesome kid." He has all A's maybe one B and is doing GREAT! He also participated in the track meet and loved that! I love this boy so much. He spoke in church yesterday and did great too. He is so funny, has the greatest sense of humor. His focus in life right now is his desire to build a computer. His birthday is coming up and we will help get him started in this worthy hobby. He is the family computer technician and can solve most of our computer problems! He is so respectful to me and offers to help me often. Love him. Jonathan does too. I love it when my boys are hanging out together and we can just talk and laugh. Those are my favorite moments every day.
Jacob had a tough week. We are really quite worried about him. The good news is that he helped run a 5 K race on Saturday morning at his school and was absolutely stellar and amazing. He was there at about 7 am and was so happy. My biggest guilt is not getting him involved in more things... this year has been a difficult and busy year and the kids haven't been involved in as many things as usual. Jacob would do better if he was in gymnastics-parkour, a debate team, piano and voice lessons, a musical of some kind, etc. He has so much potential and a need for activity! I pray that I will be able to help him.
Scott had a bit of a tough week too. One day he didn't want to go to school at all. He had some good times too though. One day he played and played with Mary, they went to the Park (with Kristy) and he showed her his secret hideout. He came home all pink cheeked and happy joyful! He loves to play with his neighborhood friends so much and I hope with all my heart that we can recreate this in Omaha. I pray that we can! Scotty loves to play board games. He is absolutley passionate about this. Yesterday we played Ticket to Ride together and had a great time.
We are praying ..and fasting(yesterday) to find the right house. We have looked for a long time. We know where we want to be and most of the homes we are interested in are in that area. We just need to make a decision. I am flying to Omaha this weekend and hope the trip will result in making an offer and moving forward. I am praying for direction!
I went to the most amazing Stake fireside last night. Matt Townsend, a family relationships counselor spoke. He is so fun to listen to, makes us laugh, and teaches profound and life changing principles. I loved this hour with him and it flew by. He shared things that I hope will change and bless my heart and help me deal better with the challenges and adversity I face. I am so grateful. At the end, when I was leading the closing song, "Love at Home," I stood looking out over the audience and my heart overflowed with love for all of those people. How I love the people in our stake and ward. How blessed I have been. I am so grateful for the sweet, deep relationships I enjoy with so many. I have a special bond and a history with so many. I felt overwhelming gratitude and love for them as I directed the music. The spirit was so strong and I just smiled. After the meeting, I stayed and talked with so many, Trevor Aiken and family, Jenn Stout, Holly Hamilton, Kyle and Tracy Jones, Holly Wheat, Cindy Meier, Cecily Savage :) Lynette Tolbert ... It was soo so sweet. I also spoke with Misty Alston and my heart was filled with healing love and forgiveness!
I also had a great week! On Tuesday, I met up with Christine and Aaron at the Draper Temple and we did a session together. It was Celestial. The temple is a place of healing. As I pondered .. new thoughts... during the endowment, my heart and spirit were healed and I found peace. I am so grateful and so so grateful to have been there with my sweet sister Christine and brother in law Aaron. Precious. After, we drove down to Thanksgiving Point and had lunch together, followed by a walk through the Thanksgiving Gardens to get some "Tulip Therapy." Beautiful!!! What a wonderful, blessed day! I love Christini and Aaron!
I was also able to go to a "mock election" at Brighton High to support Leanne in her American Problems class. I met Barb and Rod there. What an amazing class! What an amazing teacher! Wow wow wow! I am so glad I participated.
Another night I went to a cottage meeting with the Utah Celebrate Marriage group. We are trying to form a grass roots movement and get information out in support of traditional marriage. It is great to be part of something like this and we have much work to do! This is a national movement and it is being fought one on one, in neighborhoods, in homes in almost every state. We live in a time of political correctness and it is quite scary for people to speak out in support of tradtional marriage, people lose their jobs over this issue, so this movement is going forward as a grass roots movement beginning in homes and between friends. It is exciting and I plan to take the fight to Omaha! I look forward to working beside Catholics and others on this issue.
Well, that just about sums up our week. I will try to do a better job at this!
